About Us

Michelle McComb, MA, LCPC, E-RYT

Michelle is the founder of Mindful Health - Center for Wellness. She has long had the vision of creating a nurturing and healing space, with other health professionals, offering both traditional and complementary health services. Her goal was to create an environment that encourages feelings of safety, support and belonging, which she believes are essential elements in the ongoing process of healing and growth. She is most passionate about supporting others in recognizing their own true nature and unique potential, and to helping them identify what beliefs, experiences and behaviors are holding them back. She seeks to support others in developing awareness, and in cultivating the practices that strengthen insight, wisdom and compassion.

Michelle is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). She received her Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA, in 1998. She has since been working in the field of mental health in a variety of settings including hospital, residential, community mental health, and currently private practice.

Michelle offers a mindfulness-based approach to counseling & psychotherapy and is trained in several evidence-based treatments including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She specializes in the treatment of stress, anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, and also has special interest and training in mindful behavior change, which she offers both individually and in groups. She has been studying and practicing mindfulness for 20 years and has extensive training in both the clinical application as well as traditional meditation. She is a fully trained teacher of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), developed by John Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusettes Medical School. She integrates the teaching and practice of mindfulness into her therapy sessions to encourage and strengthen the cultivation of awareness, non-judgment, and self-compassion. She sees these as essential qualities in the therapeutic process of developing greater capacity for self-regulation, self-examination, and insightful change.  Her dedication to her own personal practice provides the support for her work and continues to deeply inform her therapy with clients.

Michelle is also a certified yoga instructor, meditation and mindfulness teacher. She is cofounder of Village Yoga of the Kennebunks. For her yoga/meditation bio. click here

Susan is also a Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance and is trained in the Iyengar-style of yoga. She first came to yoga in her early 20's. A meditator since 1976, Susan long intended to return to yoga, but it was not until her move to Kennebunk in 1994 that she bgan taking classes in earnest at Nataraja School of Yoga in Kennebunk. In May of 2007, Susan became a certified teacher through a 200-hour training offered by June Locklin, master teacher and owner of Nataraja School of Yoga. Yoga re-surfaced at a critical time for Susan, one marked by personal transition, physical challenges and deep loss for which asana practice helped her cope and remain balanced. It is, however, the enrichment of the inner, spiritual life that yoga invites that grounds Susan and for which she is deeply grateful. Since the summer of 2007, Susan has offered free yoga classes to patrons of all ages at the Kennebunk Free Library where she has been employed since 1995.
